Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation

This Michigan Scholarship is for High School Seniors, Undergraduates and Graduates. It is designed to assist those female students who are in the pursuit of degrees in technology. This Michigan College Scholarship can be pursued by women of any age. The monetary awards for the 2011/2012 academic year are as follows:
• High School Seniors $20,000 – One award, $5000 per year for 4 years.
• Undergraduate’s $15,000 – One award, $5000 per year for 3 years.
• Graduate $15,000 – One award, $5000 per year for 3 years.
• MCWT Active Member $10,000 – One award.
In addition, you can also apply for these grants:
• Research Grant for Graduate or Undergraduate students $3000 –One award.
• Laptop/printer combination grants $300 – Three awards.
The deadline for these applications is January 31, 2011 for the 2011 fall semester. These scholarships are sponsored by the Michigan Council of Women in Technology (MCWT). This foundation supports females pursuing a career in the technology field. The MCWT leadership is dedicated to providing females with assistance in order to balance out the gender gap in technology careers. Through inspiration, educational support, and of course Michigan Scholarships they are developing a better future for women in technology.
In order to be eligible for one of these College Scholarships in Michigan you must:
• Be a Michigan resident
• Be a Citizen of the USA
• Have a 2.8 GPA or higher
In addition, the applicant has to be enrolled as a part-time or full-time student in a degree program meant for undergraduate or graduate studies.

2011 Medallion Scholarship Program

This scholarship is offered by Western Michigan University. The program began over a quarter of a century ago. In that span of time over $80 million dollars were awarded to 423 students. There is no application necessary for this Michigan scholarship. All you have to do is apply for admission at WMU and you will automatically be considered for one of the 20 annual awards. Eligibility requirements are as follows:
• Cumulative GPA of 3.70 by the end of your high school junior year
• ACT composite of 26
• SAT of 1170
• Must submit an application to SMU by December 3, 2010 for 2011 academic year
• Those considered must compete in competition on January 22, 2011
• Competition will involve essay writing and problem solving in groups
There will be 20 Medallion scholarships awarded. Each scholarship is worth $12,500 per year and spread out over 4 years (total of $50,000). This scholarship in Michigan was inspired by J. Michael Kemp who believed it would attract the brightest students to WMU.

The Skandalaris Family Foundation Scholarships

This Michigan scholarship is sponsored by the Skandalaris Family Foundation. The scholarship is granted to State of Michigan residents but can be used at any accredited college in the United States. The award can be anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000 for first time applicants. Those who have won the scholarship before can re-apply and the amount they receive may be increased in relation to their success. Winners are selected by the staff of the foundation and family members as well. Character, GPA, test scores, essay and many other factors are used for the determination. The application deadline is May 1, 2011.
