State of Michigan scholarships are plentiful, so if you happen to live in this area you may find that there is more MI scholarships offered for your education than you imagined. The goal is to be able to pay for your education and not stress about it. Look for resources that you don’t have to pay back first. Then you can complete your college education with as little debt from it as possible.
If you reside in Michigan, you already have your foot in the door on some forms of Michigan college scholarships. This is because many of them require you to be a resident of the state for at least 1 year. Here are some of them that you should check out.
Some Unknown Scholarships in Michigan
The Carson Scholars Fund, Inc. is available to residence of Michigan who are grades 4th through 11th. They must be doing extremely well academically and also be doing good things with volunteer work in the community. This Michigan scholarship is offered for 10 students, and each award is $500 for when they are old enough to go to college. The application deadline varies so you will want to take a look at it for your specific grade.
The JSU McGee Scholarship is offered for residents of Michigan that have an ACT score of 1,260 or above and an ACT of 28 or above. Applications are taken from January 1st through April 15th. One MI scholarship is awarded annually in the amount of $2,000 to a student in an accredited college program.
The Michigan Adult Part Time Grants are very good to look at. They are based on financial need of the parents. They must have been out of high school for at least 2 years The goal of these Michigan scholarships are to get parents back into the classroom so that they are able to complete their education. They must be enrolled in an accredited college program in Michigan as a part time student.
The maximum grant amount is $600 and it can be renewed for a second year if the student maintains a 2.0 or better GPA. Applications are taken from December 1st through April 1st of the following year.
The NAPA Research and Education Foundation Scholarship Program is one of the terrific scholarships in Michigan to consider. It offers those that want to pursue a degree in civil engineering or construction engineering the chance to receive degree funds. They must be accepted into either a two year technical school or a four year college that is accredited.The amount of award varies based on the amount of funds that they have to work with each year. The number of winners also varies based on funding and eligible applicants. Applications are taken from February 1st until May 1st. Funds can be used the following fall for classes.
The Oakwood Healthcare Student Volunteer Scholarship is done through a local healthcare facility. The goals of this scholarship is to help encourage students in the areas of nursing and other realms of healthcare. Applicants must show that they have offered volunteer time to their community in the area of healthcare and write an essay about why they want to be part of healthcare for their career choice. Five MI scholarships of $1,000 each are offered annually. Applications are taken from November 15th through February 1st.
The Sault Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians offers a $1,000 minority scholarship to a Michigan student that is also a Tribe member. The degree must be in an area of human services. Applicants can be high school seniors or recent graduates. They must show involvement with their school, Tribe, and a GPA of 2.8 or higher.
The WMU Charter Township of Kalamazoo Scholarship is available to seniors that have lived in Kalamazoo. Applicants must have lived in that area for both their junior and senior years. They must have a GPA of at 3.0 or higher. The application deadline varies so it is important to check with them to find out.
Many other scholarships in Michigan exist and the above are a few prominant ones. Each college a student applies to in MI will be well advised to interview with the FinAid office to find out about the latest MI scholarships because they do change yearly.
